Aburame Clan

Aburame (Konohagakure) Shino11

The Aburame Clan were natives to the grounds of which Konohagakure was being born upon. Unknowing to the Uchiha Clan they began to threaten the home of which was the birth of the Aburame Clan. There stood a tree within the domain of the new village that was the birthplace of the first Kikaichu beetle. Upon returning to their land the Aburame Clan swore to protect that very tree and upon this day the sounds of the beetles swarmed the area surrounding the tree and the Aburame Clan stood their ground. It wasn't until the Hokage himself took to the scene and noted their preexistence to this land and offered them their rightful place amongst Konohagakure no Sato, and to build their compound surrounding the tree that their clan originated from. The Aburame Clan after that day kept to themselves and was rarely ever seen, living in solitude within the confines of their compound.

Original natives of Fire Country, the Aburame Clan made their home in the grand forests that Konohagakure would eventually be built upon. Known widely for their ability to utilize the natural flora to their benefit, the Aburame took advantage of their partnership with the Kikaichu in order to function as spies, informants, and assassins for potential employers. During the Uchiha-Hyuuga-Senju Conflict, the Aburame took a decidedly neutral stance - taking explicit care of their homelands and their forests as opposed to participating in the wider conflict. When the call came by Uchiha Hatsuma to join with Konohagakure, the Aburame initially refused. As other Clans gathered under the banner of the Uchiha and the Hyuuga alliance, the Aburame were eventually approached with an ultimatum from the Uchiha and the Hyuuga.

The decision had been made to utilize the Aburame grounds for Konohagakure’s construction. Though initial negotiations failed, when the Aburame made it clear that they would fight to the death for their homeland, they were offered a position within Konohagakure as its defenders. In exchange for their cooperation, the forests would not be felled - but rather incorporated into the village’s structure. Foreign lumber was imported through trade and living spaces and residences were created around, and later integrated with, the Aburame homeland. The Aburame have since taken charge of maintaining the forests and the natural insect flora that call Konohagakure and its surrounding forests home.

The Aburame are characteristically recognized by the decision to wear eye coverings and long garb in order to cover their otherwise mutilated skin - transformed in order to better house the Kikaichu. Many Aburame also carry a gourd on their back that act as a secondary hive of Kikaichu for them to draw upon. A notable exception to this rule is Nidaime Hokage Aburame A’nai - who opts to not wear the traditional eye coverings, though she does remain covered head-to-toe in either professional garb or her aburame outfits. The Aburame, while isolationists, get along with most of the Shinobi Clans in Konohagakure. They do not interact particularly well or particularly poorly with the other clans. The Aburame tend to get along slightly better with the Nara - but only in the interest of maintaining the flora of their home.
