Question about stealth !

Some slots allow "free" stealth check after attack others allow you to stealth for free...If you can't normally stealth for free what does it take to stealth and such ? Like a tech? And what's the max detect and Stealth allowed total since that seems to stack rather then do the 1/2 thing .

Or am i being dumb and its posted some where ?

After reading the stealth rules again  . I asked a dm about several things and one of the things was Chakra detect vs physical detect where I was told that the only diffrence between these two is the stat being rolled and each can be used to cancle out the other . I.E some one with chakra detect can have physical stealth rolled against them  and both parties get all their bonuses .  and when it says "Chakra" detect  it does'nt mean if you have chakra detect you get two rolls it just means you can roll that instead ~

THUS clarification plz and does Int Require a tech to hide with or is it you just hide with int , and can ninjutsu be used for stealth (I.E ) wis with out the use of a tech.

It's exactly how Hide/Move Silently interacts with Spot/Listen you can't apply your quietness to stop someone seeing you.

One thing i'm curious about is escape Jutsu as i've seen some that get you out of combat and 'force' your enemies to assume you are no longer present like a 'fake death' Jutsu. Will leaving the area be enforced with this because it sounds like a rule lawyer way to negate someones detection by rolling 'escape' vs them instead of stealth.

I think the distinction between 'escape' and 'hiding' is blurred too much by such abilities since they potentially conflict with the detection rules. "You can't roll to detect me my JUTSU says you believe i'm dead" ehm.. nope!

So person A and B is fighting, A then tries to hide.

A does physical stealth, and B performs physical detection. A pays 2 CP for hiding, B pays nothing for detection. They both use DEX/INT.

Now say there is also person C, who has a slot that allows chakra detection. Person C now rolls Chakra Detection and Physical Detection, but pays 2 CP for the Chakra detection. Person A now also has to roll chakra hiding. If person C wins either rolls, he detects person A.

I wasn't aware that detection is rolled with Dex/Int as is indicated in that post. Clarification please.

the problem is the stealth rules doesn't list at all how detection works. It says what the person trying to stealth has to do, but not what the person looking for them does, or rolls. This then combined with a lot of on the fly rulings, and mechanics simply telling a person here or there something and none of it getting transcribed down into the rules has made the stealth system a mess.
