| So this seemed like the best place to put this, but as far as defensive actions causing rank damage- I believe firmly that it is far too cost-effective compared to Damage Return on Techs, so this is my suggestion in turn:
-Defensive Actions Cannot benefit from rank damage. Defensive actions benefiting from damage of some sort utilize the chart according to what they defend against, I.E. if your defensive action defends vs an element, you use the +Damage return according to Type, if your defensive action is vs a particular discipline, you use the discipline chart, and if yours is a general defensive action, you utilize the Universal damage return chart.
This continues with the theme of rewarding specializing and punishing generalization. Otherwise, you're going to find everyone and their mother getting 1-CP defensive actions that attack while defending- does that sound right?

| Points of reference: https://naruto-verse.forumotion.com/t6056-anja-jinrai-jutsuNirami | Glare ((Free)) A brief glance from the Nikui Tōchōgan in response to a direct look from enemy Doujutsu, this application is a thin burst of disruptive chakra upon meeting the enemy's eyes, attempting to counteract their well-molded jutsu and cause the target to reel with their missed technique and backfired chakra. Type/Rank: Rank E Doujutsu/Ninjutsu (Wis) Cost: 1 CP Effect: Defensive Roll vs incoming Doujutsu Attack. Upon Success, enemy takes Rank damage and -1d2 Doujutsu rolls for 1 Round. (1 JP for -1d2 (Type) for base duration) https://naruto-verse.forumotion.com/t6213-storm-release-jutsu-kinnojoStorm Substitution With a single hand seal, Kinnojo creates a clone and substitutes out that when hit, erupts in storm release chakra damaging whomever hits it Type: Storm Ninjutsu (WIS) Rank: E Cost: 1 CP Effect: Defensive. Deals Base Damage+1. Notes: +1 JP from Slot. HP DMG, DoT, Duration are Specializations (To Purchase) Notes: Must be declared before Roll. The prior was approved. Yes, I am arguing that something that I got is too powerful.

| Doing this you understand requires multiple JP. Only reason I can do this (It was changed to a Rank +1 defensive use) Is because I am paying 3 PP to get an extra JP on my jutsu | |

| The issue is giving Rank damage as part of a defensive action, not the +1 damage. | |

| You can choose to gain extra JP for a defensive jutsu by removing base damage. But it is just an option you can use to make your defense that much better or efficient. I instead chose damage, but other options are things like multiple defenses per cast (IE defend 2 attacks paying the cost only once) or bonuses or DR to other attacks.
Its relatively fair if you consider the alternative options.

| Yes, but I thought the concern was that why is dealing base damage an actual thing while it completely outclasses damage return. For example: Why take 5 JP for 1d2 damage return vs. universal when i can just deal rank damage to them instead for what i assume is 1 JP? | |

| dealing 1d8(level 30 rank ramage) dmg return for 1 cp is ridiculously over powered compared to regular damage return.
also, pretty sure it should be: If you don't get the non-damaging bonus, you can use the jutsu both as an offense that deals rank or as a defense(which is how storm substitution is worded, but not how it's being interpreted). not a defense that deals rank damage on success.

| mm if that's the case. (Being a purely I roll a defensive roll type of jutsu, while also being able to use it as an attack during your offensive turn.) Then that would appear to be less of an issue. However, i would have to agree that there should be some clarification on the wording to indicate that to be the case. Otherwise, it would appear to be that he makes a defensive roll and deals rank damage + 1 to attacker regardless. | |

| I am already aware. We are rolling out tables specifically for defensive jutsu. Doing Base Damage will be included in it. It will not be a matter of 1 JP. Thank you. | |
