Upkeep !?!!?

So if your paying an upkeep for a tech that means you keep getting its effect ?

I.E
Next attack gains 1d4 tai damage 1d2 rounds duration.
Upkeep 1 CP



So if you pay the upkeep , does that mean once per round you get an 1d4 or

Yes. Upkeep also has duration which is based on Rank (I.E E Rank is D2 Rounds). Upkeep is basically choosing to expend more CP instead of spending JP on Duration.

So as long as you pay the up keep you get the effect or so long as you pay the upkeep you get the effect for the duration ?

To answer this for anyone curious, the upkeep table on the google doc as follows:

E: 1/Round: D2
D: 2/Round: D3
C: 3/Round: D4
B: 4/Round: D4+1
A: 5/Round: D6
S: 6/Round: D6+1

Means that, at certain ranks of jutsu, you can give additional duration on top of whatever the base is for the jutsu, but at a cost per round for the entire duration of the jutsu. This doesn't give an infinite duration (that would be silly), but up to the Dx listed. It is another way to apply cost into value at a slanted rate that favors better efficiency with JP expendatures, but also gives a fashion in which one can use an extended effect when necessary.

A good example would be on a C-rank:

FuuFuu's Fuuton has HP Damage and DR Pierce as its specialties, but FuuFuu wants a buff to give her Fuuton more Oomph... she wants it to last a while though, instead of just recasting it every other round! C-Ranks have a 4JP base (Let's not assume she took the PP slot this time.)

Since FuuFuu wants Damage, the buff won't get any rank base sadly, -but- with the specialty, she -can- get a base of a whopping +1d8 Fuuton (Type) Damage) for a piddly 1 round. However! With an upkeep of 3 CP a round, FuuFuu's Fuuton can last 1d4 more rounds, making it a mighty +1d8 (type) damage rolls for 1d4+1 round.

Such is the way of Upkeep Costs.

What about duration and upkeep? Do i pay upkeep while its active? After its "normal" duration has expired to keep it active?

Upkeep costs add onto base duration, but cost the upkeep for the entire duration.

So what of those Puppet/Summon slots. Is the upkeep tacted on user jutsu spends?

and does + CP cost count towards maintenance cost ? or is that seperate like how it is with the slot ?

Yes it does.

Alrite so for the pp slot if we take  - CP cost does it apply to CP maintance.? Because I was told CP maintance and CP cost were two different things because they function differently? So would the Debuff function using both values then or would you have to make a specif debuff that targeted maintance or targted CP cost? ...And if so does that work the same for a buff ? If you have - Cp cost buff does it work on cp maintance?

Consider it like a Type. Summoning is the Type. -2 Summoning CP Costs effects the initial cost and the maintenance. If someone can target Universal or specifically the Type Summoning Costs to increase them, then yes the Summoner would be affected.

Does that mean I can make a tota to reduce summoning cost instead , because if you can debuff you can buff right?

Or rather , is Increase CP cost and Increase CP Maintenance cost to separate JP for each or using the same thing?
