Clan before Self Courage in Battle Benevolence in Victory Respect in Defeat Loyalty to your Comrades Honesty and Honor in All things
The Daijeki clan, like the earth they control, are benevolent and caring in peace and strike with righteous and uncontained fury in war. Their society is slow to accept change but not completely resistant to it, like a mountain gradually giving way to a flowing river. Their society is very ordered and disciplined, each person having a purpose and function within the clan, this trait leads to very low crime and vagrancy within the Daijeki Clan. Guided by a Patriarch of the Clan and a Clan council, the politics of the clan are moderately conservative. They are slow to anger, but when awoken their anger rivals that of an erupting volcano, fierce and unrelenting until the fires have cooled. Traditionally Shinobi of this clan tend to favor Kenjutsu/Ninjutsu combinations, Hammers and Mauls are common sights among Daijeki Ninja’s.
Traditional Customs of the Daijeki -Birth Reading, whenever a women becomes pregnant it is customary for them to go to an oracle to have a divining session to see parts of the child’s future. -On their birthday that they come of age, a Ninja crafts a weapon of their choice from the stone of the earth, or is gifted one. -The clan holds days of celebration on the Spring and Fall Equinox’s and all duels and combat is prohibited (Unless during a time of war). Though games of sports, cunning, and feats of strength are common place. -It is customary for when someone enters your home or place of dwelling that you offer them some form of food and drink even if its bread and water. -It is not uncommon for Shinobi of the Daijeki clan to be accomplished blacksmith’s or jewelers.
.:: PAST ::.
Spoiler:
Those Who are One with the Earth --------------------------------------- The clan that was thought to have sprung from the mountains themselves, the favored children of the earth. Before each birthing the pregnant mother would be taken to the clans oracle where the future of the child would be foretold. And even the most unbelieving in such superstitions would not dare to go against the upholding of this tradition. For in the clans history those who did not often appeared almost cursed by the gods themselves.
Each child was viewed as a mound of soil growing steadily into a powerful hill or roaring cliff beside the sea, some even as a tall mountain, and in these children they saw the strength of their people renewed…And upon each hill the oracle would read the landscape and from this landscape they would divine the path of the child’s yet to be lived life. In all of the clans history there had been very few twins, and always had their lives story been written upon a single hill or split far apart creating a natural valley.
The Patriarch of the clan was known as a strong yet caring man. Long dark hair cascading over tanned almost darkened shoulders. He had managed to lead the clan through difficult and troubling times, raised it from the depths it had fallen to with the previous rulers and to many was viewed as one of the best leaders their people had walked with. Some claimed him to be a genius, others thought him a diplomat, more still believed it was his devout dedication to the old ways of their people. Never was he known to take military council without one of the mystics at his side, it had been due to him that the council had been forced to acknowledge the mystics once more. So it was no surprise that when the patriarch’s wife was found to be with child he had immediately gone to the oracle to gain her views on his child’s future.
Visions of Two Mountains -------------------------------- Upon entering the tent a thick smoke had tingled the senses, causing those present to allow their minds to drift along the skies and dive within the seas. The stars would speak their secrets and the worlds would align to allow the oracle’s visions to be at their height this night.
The old woman would move busily from one censor to another taking various incense sticks and herbs from various jars, crushing and adding each to the mixture before igniting them with a simple flame. Returning to the circle in the center of the tent she would pour a few glasses of water over still hot coals sending a cloud of steam up into the air. As she entered her trance she lightly pressed her palm to the woman’s stomach and fell into herself.
The room dropping away as she found herself landing within a dark landscape, endless fields of rolling grass, a dark star filled sky, a few trees here and there, and then off in the distance stood a single hill at the foot of a seemingly endless lake. And in the blink of an eye she found herself standing at the foot of that hill. Aged feet standing atop the cool reflective surface of the water, no sooner had she began to read the landscape on the hill than movement caught her gaze.
Turning to look at the waters surface she noticed that the hill’s reflection had began to shift, it began to grow in size, and this was strange for never had such happened, never had a landscape altered once she had entered the dreamscape. Returning her gaze to the hill her blue eyes would widen as she stumbled back a few steps. For the land was shifting, altering, growing. The hill had grown to a small cliff and within a few seconds it had formed a small crack along the center, and soon it fractured, a small fissure forming as the cliff became a valley, and the valley rose up forming a pair of vast mountains within the sky…
Still they continued to alter and grow!
The mountains continued to heighten, first one and then the other, each moving to reach the others height and then attempt to dwarf it beneath itself. The result was simply amazing, two mountains stretching ever higher towards the sky. Until eventually the two towering shapes had reached higher than any had ever reached before, the heads of the mountains going so far as to eclipse the moon itself. And yet the strangest part was that in spite of their seemingly competitive nature the two mountains were always connected. Small walkways of stone connecting the two at various points…
No matter how the two might fight it, or work to dwarf the other, or compete with one another they still leaned against and supported one another…Such was their strength, such was there destiny…two children would be born…each strong upon their own, unyielding and resolute. Yet together they were monolithic giants that would together drive each other to reach the very sky…together they would make a bridge to connect heaven and earth.
Such were the visions of the Oracle of the Earth.
------------------------------- Two Halves of a Whole -------------------------------
As the oracle had foretold two children had been born under a full moon on a cloudless night. Each healthy and large in body for their age. Yet they were not bourn without blemishes for upon each of them on one of their shoulders was a birthmark. Those marks appeared in the shape of two halves….Halves of the same mountain that the oracle had witnessed growing within her vision.
Never were they far from one another, always together, always learning, always competing. Each named for their task as a member of the clan. Tojiro to them meaning “Relentless Strength” Kouken meaning “Unwavering Guardian” and sense birth they had been trained for those tasks. Trained to guide, defend, and fight for their people. Each child prepared for the war ahead of them. And even with the great ninja wars completion they were still forced to train and ready themselves for there would always be battles to be had, wars to be won, people to protect, and chances to show what their people were truly capable of.
The two were each capable warriors however never so strong as when they stood together. Until eventually both had developed such a close bond that when fighting side by side they could share each others pain and pull from each others reserves. And for years they had trained to better themselves, from birth until this day.
And on their birthday each was gifted with an item to help them in the tasks that lay before them. To the second born, Tojiro, was given a blade looking as though it were made of stone, to the first born a shield and staff each covered in the clans runes of power, each looking as though to be a piece of nature and stone. And al of the items were claimed to have been forged from the very foundation stone of the earth itself…Though each was said to only unlock its powers as its owners did.
With these weapons, and their training they were to never forget what and who they are nor where they came from. With these gifts they were to go forth and show the world the power of the earth and her children… With the might of their clan they would prepare to defend their country from any evil that would befall it.
