Nami seems to be a genuinely happy go lucky girl. She's always reading, or cooking - which she seems to have quite a talent for, even making Ship-rats into a delectable stew. As a young child, she was impressed by a display of shinobi combat, and decided she wanted to become one as well. Her parents were less than thrilled about her decision, thinking she would have been a better librarian.
In combat, she retains that carefree attitude... in a way that is quite nearly deceptive.
